Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the ACROFI committee, I have great pleasure in inviting you to the fourth biennial Asian Current Research on Fluid Inclusions (ACROFI) meeting in Brisbane, Australia, in August 2012. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming delegates and providing you with an intellectually stimulating and socially memorable conference.

ACROFI will be held at the Queensland University of Technology on 11th – 12th August, 2012, immediately after the 34th International Geological Congress (IGC) which will also be held in August in Brisbane. So we hope that delegates attending the IGC will be able to stay on and also attend ACROFI IV. Brisbane offers great August weather, value for money and proximity to geo-tourist features such as the Great Barrier Reef.

We realise that it is a long trip to Australia from Asia and hope that you can make the most of your time by attending both conferences. Please note that the 34th IGC Organising Committee have organised a GeoHost support scheme. This scheme will provide financial support to a limited number of Young Earth Scientists and scientists who live and work or study in low income countries to participate in the 34th IGC. For more details see: http://www.34igc.org/funded-delegate-program.php

Delegates from all countries except New Zealand will need to apply for and obtain a visa to enter Australia. If you also need an official letter of invitation this can be arranged after you register you intent to attend ACROFI. The visa application process differs depending on your country of residence and the location of the nearest Australian embassy, consulate or high commission. Please visit the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration website (http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/event-organisers-participants/iecn.htm) – there you will find detailed information on the visa application process. We recommend that you apply not less than six (6) weeks prior to your departure date.

We are looking forward to making your trip to Australia in 2012 a great success.

Yours sincerely

Terry Mernagh
